A champion for a better future in Central Newfoundland
A proud Newfoundlander and Labradorian in every sense of the word, Lynette grew up in Glovertown, NL. As a teen, she worked with the Newfoundland and Labrador Lumber Producers Association and as a fish plant worker - experiences which gave her an understanding of primary industries and their importance to local communities and allowed her to grow up with a deep appreciation of community, hard work and compassion.
Lynette was educated at Memorial University of Newfoundland and holds a BSc (Hons) degree, MScMed degree in Community Medicine, and an MD. She has worked with MUN as part of the Rural Medical Education Network, helping train family doctors in rural areas of the province. In 2017, Lynette was awarded the Reg L. Perkin Award for Family Physician of the Year.
Lynette has been vocal about the need for more resources and support to ensure rural Newfoundlanders and Labradorians have equal access to health care. She served as the President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association and has been both a member and chair of multiple NLMA committees. Lynette also served as a board member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter of the CFPC.
She believes that building our rural economy and investing in our greatest asset - our people - will help our region prosper. She is running in this election because she feels she has the skills and experience from her practice and years in leadership roles, to be a strong voice for our region.
Lynette lives in Grand Falls-Windsor with her husband, Kris, their children Allison, Nathan, and Ben, and their three dogs. She is proud to be your Liberal Candidate in Central Newfoundland, and is looking forward to being your representative in Ottawa.
